Our technicians maintain their high level of knowledge by attending training given by Yamaha Motor Corporation and our product line seminars.
From humble beginnings in Charleston, South Carolina, Seels Outboard has been a family owned and operated company for over 60 years. In 1964, Albert and Dorothy Seel purchased a small area of what is today the main location for Seels at 1937 Savannah Highway in the West of the Ashley River community.
Albert and Dorothy Seel are Charlestonians. They grew up here enjoying the Lowcountry, the beaches, barrier islands, Stono River, Ashley River, Cooper River — all of the areas of Charleston and Mount Pleasant on the water and raised their family in the enjoyment of boating and being on the water. Albert worked as a machinist instructor at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He pursued his dream of owning an outboard repair business and through hard work and dedication, with his family, his dream grew into a full dealership in 1973 that offered full service to boats and engines as well as sales. Before his passing in 1986, Albert instilled integrity, honesty, and dedication into his family who have continued his dream for over 60 years. In 1997, our second dealership, Seels- Mount Pleasant, opened extending quality service to the other side of the Cooper River. As this area has developed since 1997, Seels-Mount Pleasant was a great vision of Albert and Dorothy’s family. As Seels’ reputation for quality service and quality products grew from our main location in West Ashley, the need for a second location for our customers crossing the bridge became a necessity.
Dorothy Seel continued to instill into the third generation of our Seels family this dedication to customers and their enjoyment boating. In 2021, at the age of 100, Dorothy Seel passed away.
Today, as our company has grown, Seels has third generation along with several others who are dedicated to our customers. Our goal is your confidence and satisfaction in our products and our service. We have been loyal dealers to our boat lines with Grady White Boats and Sea Hunt Boats. Seels has been a Grady White Boats dealer for Charleston and Mount Pleasant since 1982 and Seels is the charter dealer for Sea Hunt Boats in Charleston since they began manufacturing in 1996. These boat manufacturers have proven that the best last on and keep getting better.
